Dr. Mabel Lo
I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Delaware and Iowa. I provide therapy with warmth, attunement, and respect for each client’s dignity, story, and inner resources.
At Nurturing Presence Psychology, my goal is to offer a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can work through emotional injuries, attachment wounds, trauma, anxiety, relational distress, and workplace stress.
About Nurturing Presence Psychology
Nurturing Presence Psychology was created around the belief that healing happens in a safe, genuine, and attuned therapeutic relationship. I strive to offer a nurturing presence where you can feel seen, respected, and supported as you work through emotional injuries, attachment wounds, trauma, anxiety, relational distress, and workplace stress.
The Meaning Behind the Logo
The Nurturing Presence Psychology logo reflects the heart of the practice. The two “Ps” in NPP represent two persons sitting together in communication, on the same level, in the therapy room. Their mirrored positioning symbolizes attunement, emotional co-regulation, and emotional resonance within the therapeutic relationship. The sun above represents God or a higher power, the ultimate source of healing, hope, and renewal.
Professional Credentials
I earned my PsyD in Clinical Psychology from the Fuller School of Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary in California. Following my internship at Iowa State University Student Counseling Services, I gained extensive clinical experience in group practices in Delaware and Iowa before establishing my private practice.
I have over 10 years of clinical experience working with diverse populations across the East Coast, Midwest, and Los Angeles area in settings including outpatient behavioral health agencies, community mental health clinics, a psychiatric hospital focused on chemical dependency, a university counseling center, and a school district.
I also hold a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Hong Kong.
What Draws Me to Psychology
Having experienced a difficult childhood and a turbulent family of origin, I understand the importance of having a nurturing presence in order to develop healthy and secure children and adults.
During the most difficult times, mature and caring adults outside of my family provided the nurturance and guidance that I needed in my developmental years. As a therapist, my goal is to provide a nurturing presence to you so that you can thrive and live a fruitful life!
Prior Career History
Before entering the field of psychology and counseling, I worked in human resources for global organizations, including Motorola and Levi’s, for more than 15 years.
This background helps me understand organizational dynamics, workplace stress, professional identity concerns, and interpersonal challenges in work settings.
